RCI Completes Work on Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital

Samantha Betancourt, Marketing Specialist • April 30, 2019

RCI partnered with Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital to bring to life a whimsical and imaginative outdoor space for their Baton Rouge location. This outdoor environment provides not only beauty and functionality to the hospital but also a place for its young patients to escape the day to day and find enjoyment.

Meticulous attention to detail was given to every aspect of this project – from the selection of old St. Louis brick placed in the RCI constructed pavilion to the Mexican beach stone laid in a radial pattern surrounding one of four fountains. The carefully curated plant pallet invokes a sensory journey inviting visitors to see, touch, and smell the garden that changes throughout the year.

Special features of this unique project include:

· Vertical construction of a 2,000 sq. ft. open pavilion with custom stained glass interests

· Custom blue stone labyrinth with OLOL logo sandblasted in the center

· Sugar Kettle Fountain

· Three granite fountains

· 23,000 sq. ft. of colored sidewalks with sandblasting pattern throughout

· 300 LF of seat walls with natural limestone caps

· Masonry wall with custom metal entry gates

· Synthetic turf made to replicate rolling hills

· Three playhouses designed to resemble birdhouses

· Board foam finishes on fountain work

· Over 6,000 Shrubs, 2,000 Ground Cover, and 600 Trees make up the Landscape Planting

· 84 Zones of Two Wire Irrigation with Highly Efficient Drip and Spray Zones

The incredible outcome on this property is equal parts impressive and emotional. We look forward to seeing this space being enjoyed by the patients and staff at OLOL for years to come.
